Feel like you’re stuck in a social media rut to start 2023? You’re not alone – after all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it can seem overwhelming to jump back into the swing of things for work. Don’t worry – we’re here to help! We want you to get social in 2023, and we’ve got five social media marketing ideas to start off on the right foot!
Start with Video-Based Content
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: video is where it’s at! Whether you prefer Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or even Pinterest, it’s time to jump into the video realm if you haven’t already. Reports say that viewers retain 95% more information from videos than they do static images or text, which begs the question, what are you waiting for? From Reels on Facebook and Instagram, all the content on TikTok, and now video pins on Pinterest, there is no shortage of video-based content on social media. It is by far the easiest way to inspire engagement and is the most easily digestible content for any viewer.
Get Creative with Social Media Posts
Stagnant or boring posts will kill any momentum a social media account might have been getting, so get creative! While maintaining your branding is a must, make sure you’re not posting the same type of content in every post – mix it up a bit! Be sure to post not only blogs about the current trends, but also include industry news, examples of the company culture, product videos, reviews and testimonials from happy clients, tips and advice about the industry or products, as well as more fun content like profiles on team members, tutorials, giveaways and behind the scenes live streams. And don’t forget about the easiest content of all: curated content from other brands, experts and followers! Linking back, tagging and hash tagging can all lead to finding new audiences, which could mean new conversions! If you have questions about types of posts that a business should or shouldn’t do, check out our previous blog all about that!
Try a New Social Media Platform
It’s a new year, so why not try a new social media platform? It can certainly seem daunting, trying to figure out all the ins and outs of a platform, but you’ll never learn unless you try! Start slow with your own personal account and lurk for a bit – see what’s out there and how things work. Once you feel more comfortable, create a business account and just keep going. TikTok is still in its early stages for business advertising, but influencers have already taken the lead and you can learn a lot just by watching. Pinterest is basically the sleeper of social media, having been around for a while, but its value to marketers is still slowly being discovered by the mainstream. If you have questions about what platform is right for your business, check out our previous blog all about that!
Try an Interactive Social Media Campaign
While passive social media can be easy and fun, why not try something interactive! Not only is it more fun, but your business can get much more out of it too! But what constitutes “interactive” content? It’s basically any content where a user can interact by clicking on it or through it, answering questions in a quiz, survey, assessment or poll format, playing with the messaging, commenting or actively participating, such as in a webinar or live chat. It sounds like a lot, but you know you’ve seen them in their simplest form – comment sections on Facebook posts or surveys via email campaigns, as well as polls on Instagram posts. Start simple with an Instagram poll, and then be sure to follow up! The campaign doesn’t stop once the post is live – continue the engagement and you’ll be surprised at how well it can work!
Share User-Generated Content from Your Followers
We briefly mentioned this one in our “get creative” section, but never underestimate the positive results that can come from taking advantage of your easiest posts: curated content from your followers is basically social proof of your reach, and when you share user-generated content from followers, you can reach so many more potential customers and validate your current followers as well. By sharing original social media images from followers, their videos, live streams, testimonials and blog posts, the circle of social media is complete and both the business and the follower win in more ways than one.
